Roar across Europe's largest mountain plateau on a powerful snowmobile, following the historic postal road that once connected remote Arctic communities. Your adventure begins at the 150-year-old Gargia Lodge before ascending through snow-covered forests toward the legendary Beskades mountain range.
Feel the machine respond beneath you as you climb higher, leaving civilization behind with every mile. The forest gradually opens until you burst onto Finnmarksvidda – an endless white ocean stretching to every horizon. Here, surrounded by absolute silence and infinite space, you'll understand why Arctic explorers were drawn to these remote expanses.
Share driving duties with your passenger, switching halfway through this exhilarating journey across terrain that challenges and rewards in equal measure. Your certified guide shares stories of postal workers who once braved these same routes on skis, carrying mail between isolated settlements. Return to Gargia Lodge with snow-stung cheeks, racing heart, and memories of conquering one of Europe's most spectacular wilderness frontiers.
- No previous experience is required to drive a snowmobile. All you need is a regular driver’s license, and it’s as simple as it is fun. A thorough safety introduction and driving instruction will be given before the trip starts. You will ride in pairs, a driver and a passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to change seats during the trip
- Changes to the trip due to weather conditions may occur. Changes may occur due to weather. Æventyr reserves the right to change the itinerary or cancel the trip if the weather conditions appear unsafe.
- Wear warm clothes and shoes in accordance with the weather forecast and season. Don’t forget to bring sunglasses.
- You will share a snowmobile with another passenger, so each of you will get to drive half of the trip. If you want to drive all by yourself, simply add the Single Driver Add-On before booking.

- We recommend all our guests to have their own travel and health insurance to cover unforeseen events outside the travel operator’s control and injuries.
- This trip is not recommended for those who have back problems or for those who are pregnant.
- Only the holders of a valid B class driver’s license are allowed to drive a snowmobile on this trip. You are required to present your license for verification before taking part on the ride. Guests without a valid driving license are only allowed to be passengers (min. age is 12)
- The transport time from Alta city center to Gargia is 30–45 minutes, depending on stops and guest pickups along the way
- Minimum age to participate is 12.
- Minimum age to ride alone is 18. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- You will share a snowmobile with another passenger, so each of you will get to drive half of the trip. If you want to drive all by yourself, simply add the Single Driver Add-On when booking.
