About This Adventure

In winter, whales come to the herring-rich fjords in northern Norway to hunt. This is a unique opportunity to experience the whales up close while exploring the beautiful Fjords of northern Norway.

You will get to enjoy the beautiful winter skies, while surrounded by mountains and the fjords wildlife.

We adjust the start point of this trip to where the whales have last been seen to maximize your chance of seeing them. This can mean that we first have to drive for up to 1 hour to get to our harbor.

Once on the boat we will make our way out into the fjords to look for humpback whales and Orcas. We will keep a safe distance and turn off our boat engines to minimize the disturbance to the whales. The whales are just as curious about visitors as we are about them, so they will most likely come and swim around our boat.

Please note that while we try our best, we can not guarantee that we will actually see whales on the trip. The season start and end date can be adjusted according to whale migration patterns.

The tour

Join us for an exciting adventure at our Æventyr Adventure Store conveniently located in the city center. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the Tour's commencement. The Tour will kick off with a brief orientation, and you'll be provided with warm suits, floating west, gloves, boots, and goggles for your boat journey.

Embark on a captivating expedition led by your knowledgeable guide, as we traverse the scenic fjords and majestic mountains to our harbor in Baddern. Once we reach the harbor, our voyage onto the fjord begins. Our skilled captain will skillfully seek out the presence of whales, aiming to bring you as close as possible without causing any disturbance to these magnificent creatures. Based on what port we go out from we will be out in the boat between 1-2,5 hours.

Upon returning to the harbor, a delectable warm lunch will be served before we make our way back to Alta. Our journey concludes at our Adventure Store in the city center, where you initially met us.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Changes to the start time of this trip may change to maximize your change of seeing the whales and we might start with a 1 hour drive to our harbor of the day.

Changes to the trip due to weather conditions may occur.

Wear warm clothes and shoes in accordance with the weather forecast and season.

This trip is not recommended for those who have back problems or for those who are pregnant. Children up to 12 years.

Passengers must be at least 120cm tall to be able to join this trip.

For this activity we need at least 4 participants.
